For Union Investment, we developed a system for communicating innovation within the company as a temporary exhibition. With a structural frame made of metal elements, the parcours blends into the architecture. Digital and analog media surfaces, room for interaction and technical exhibits are seamlessly integrated.

An Atrium becomes an exhibition space

Our client Union Investment wanted to integrate a temporary experience center at its headquarters. Employees and visitors should be able to get to know the digitalization of the company; by themselves or in groups. As a move to another building was imminent, a fast, efficient and flexible solution was required. We were brought in as technology experts at the very beginning of the project. Starting with a consulting and conception phase, we also supported our customer with implementation and commissioning.

The topic of digitalization is illustrated using a variety of use cases. A large number of applications from areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, gamification and extended reality show how diversely Union Investment is already using these technologies and what could be achieved in the future. We supported our client in structuring and clustering the individual applications, many of which already exist. We also developed individual methods to make the presentation more comprehensible and impressive.

Spaces within the space

The venue is an open atrium. The temporary exhibition had to be integratable into the surroundings without major structural measures. As we were dealing with a range of very different exhibits, media surfaces and interaction concepts, we developed a system that could adapt to the requirements in an agile manner. At the same time, it also fits the future location of the company perfectly.

We achieve maximum flexibility with a modular system of poles, bases and connecting elements. The delicate framework not only creates a workshop character, but with the different modules it also ensures that a coherent overall look is created despite the various uses. The existing space is ideally utilized. Transparent panels create different areas without disturbing the airy architecture of the atrium.

All exhibition content fits into the metal framework. Signage, reading texts and monitors are directly integrated, while simple wooden shelves provide a presentation surface for physical exhibits.

A whole range of digital solutions are shown in the exhibition. We structured and systematized them in order to find the most suitable technical formats for communicating content. Analog media surfaces are supplemented by monitors in various formats that are seamlessly integrated into the frame system.

Digital hands-on exhibits such as VR glasses, robots and tablet apps are also part of the exhibition. This range of devices with very different technical requirements were integrated so that they can be used reliably and smoothly.

Altogether, a wide range of discussion situations at eye level are made possible, always with the opportunity to demonstrate topics directly hands-on.

Our client’s existing digital exhibition content – from video to presentations to interactive formats – is managed via a CMS and made accessible on the relevant media. With our technical support, they were integrated into the existing signage system.

After the planned relocation of Union Investment, the Experience Center will be further developed and updated with new content. Here, too, we will remain the partner for concept and technology.
